The BPC Food Pantry began small but has grown significantly over the last decade. We are passionate about serving the needs of individuals and families with food insecurities in Brick and throughout Ocean County. We’ve seen a significant increase in demand for our services.
Each Wednesday, between 10 am and 2 pm, we provide food assistance to an average of 25 to 40 individuals and families. This consistent need underscores the critical role we play within our community. Beyond our weekly distribution, we partner with our deacons to maintain vital relationships with the Brick and Ladacin School systems, providing support to between 60-65 families in need four times annually. Furthermore, our ongoing collaboration with Destiny’s
Bridge (homeless community) and The Food Angels (hot food mobile kitchen) allows us to reach even more vulnerable individuals.
Thanks to the generous contributions of individual donors, private foundations, and the Fulfill Food Bank, we support an average of 3000 families per year. This represents a substantial commitment to alleviating hunger in our region.
The stories shared by those we serve are often deeply moving and highlight the multifaceted nature of food insecurity. We encounter individuals facing significant financial hardship due to medical expenses, disabilities, or insufficient income from sources such as social security. The elderly are particularly vulnerable, often struggling to make ends meet. While these stories are heartbreaking, they reinforce the urgency and importance of our mission. Our team strives to offer not just food, but also compassion, hope, and a supportive, consistent presence, reflecting our devotion to Christian values.
